The health system in Nigeria is presently in shambles, as we have so many of the pillars of the health system non- functional. Nigeria had a very large population, with non functional facilities, poor funding and a geometrically reduced number of health care workers.

Some proposed steps to salvage and strengthen the health system includes:

1. Increasing the awareness of National Leaders to the state of the health system. Let them know and understand how deadly a weakened health system is to a country and how it affects the country's productivity and economy.

2. Increase collaboration with Private industries and world Leaders for funding and financing.

3. Ensuring proper allocation of funds to trustworthy individuals with emphasis placed on accountability.

4. Proper education and up-skilling for health care workers.

5. Inclusion of trained volunteers workers to serve as assistants and reduce workload where necessary.

6. Purchase, maintenance and usage of state of the art facilities in urban and rural settings.

7. Ensuring timely and proper renumeration and care of health care workers at all levels.
