As I mentioned in my earlier post - are there institutions who will want to put their paywalls down and become the repository of this shared knowledge, that is then distributed to where learning needs to happen in higher education? There are always stories in the news of how students in cities, regions, locations where education is being accessed through distributed and networked ways (youtube, social media, streaming platforms, then local hubs and agencies providing the additional support). I also note that the Australian government recently announced a $16bn investment in more regional university hubs across the nation. Can we build on those?
The best part about this open course is that it provides opportunity to engage with what already exists and possibly options to open up the uptake of the course. The question is therefore around accreditation or recognition. This is the truth about higher education, industries, employers look for substantive proof of your skills through testamurs.
