In Australia, there has been movement in bringing out into the open the many ways of knowing and learning. I myself have only been educated in a western educational system. My way of researching and learning has been learnt through years of following a set of rules which govern how I look for, evaluate and then transmit or communicate that learning. Through it all, I struggled (I was indeed labelled a "slow learner" by teachers in my early school years, only finding out years later that I had a learning "disability"). But recently having seen other ways of learning - such as the Aboriginal Pedagogical 8 ways - https://www.8ways.online/ I often wonder whether I did/do have a "disability" or simply was not gathering knowledge that worked for me because I was following a set of western structured knowledge creation and transmission.
