Rainfed agriculture is a key source of sustenance for most people in my setting, which is located in the heart of the Central Sahel in Niger. Since more than 80% of us rely on this risky habit, it is imperative that we adapt to the changing climate for the sake of our own survival.

I really believe that funding research is essential to taking on this challenge head-on. We must investigate and create agricultural practices that are climate resilient so they can endure the unpredictable weather patterns we experience. We can find creative solutions that enable our farmers to prosper in spite of the obstacles in their way by carrying out in-depth research.

Furthermore, tackling climate change and the health problems it has brought about requires a strong education system. I firmly believe that we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint and enhance public health by increasing knowledge and promoting a culture of sustainability. Teaching my community the value of making thoughtful food consumption decisions is one significant way I'm devoted to helping.

We can reduce food waste, promote local and sustainable food systems, and advocate for plant-based diets in order to not only lessen the effects of climate change but also improve the health of present and future generations. I have hope that by working together, we can solve the environmental and health issues facing Central Sahel with resoluteness and commitment, and create a more resilient future.
