The national supply chain for medicine and surgical supply is through ZAMMSA.
ZAMMSA has over the years faced significant challenges is fulfilling it's mandates which can be mainly attributable to inconveniencies in funding as well as regulatory/ operational policies.
This has since led to depletion of resources for the much needed medical & surgical supplies which has been evidenced by disruptions in the supply chain ( impacting the supportive mandate to HS)
We have also seen inconsistencies in policy leading to procurement procedures which has been attributable to leadership lapses.
All these have significantly impacted to the left, the effectiveness of this statutory supportive institution in supporting HS.
