To preserve human rights during and after humanitarian emergencies, it is essential to ensure access to basic assistance without discrimination, respecting the dignity of all affected individuals. Active community participation in decision-making strengthens the protection of their rights and promotes more appropriate solutions. Additionally, accountability from institutions and humanitarian actors ensures adherence to international standards. An example is the response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake, where international organizations provided health aid and protection, though challenges remained in upholding the rights of vulnerable populations. Strengthening local systems and coordinating multisectoral efforts are key to inclusive and sustainable recovery.
