The evaluations I will see will focus on assessing the effectiveness of health informatics implementations within Nigeria's HWM Activity. These evaluations can significantly impact how health informatics is used and developed in the future:

  • Identifying Strengths and Weaknesses: Evaluations will highlight the strengths of current implementations, such as improved data collection or better access to information for clinicians. They will also reveal weaknesses, like challenges with user adoption or data quality issues.
  • Informing Future Development: By understanding what works and what doesn't, HWM Activity can make informed decisions about future health informatics projects. This could involve prioritizing improvements to existing systems, tailoring them to user needs, or even scrapping ineffective approaches.
  • Building Trust and Securing Funding: Positive evaluations demonstrating the value of health informatics can convince stakeholders of its importance. This can lead to increased funding for further development and wider implementation across the HWM Activity.
  • Adapting to the Context: Evaluations should consider Nigeria's specific context, including infrastructure limitations and user demographics. This ensures future health informatics initiatives are culturally appropriate, address the digital divide, and are sustainable in the long run.
